VPN Not Connecting

  1. Check your internet connection

Make sure your Wi-Fi or mobile data works without the VPN. Try opening a website first.

  2. Switch protocols

Go to CapVPN Settings → Protocol. Try Hysteria2, WireGuard, or VLESS Reality one by one.

  3. Change server location

Some servers may be temporarily busy. Try a nearby server or a different country.

  4. Restart the app

Close the app completely and reopen it. On mobile, you can also toggle airplane mode for a few seconds.

  5. Check for updates

Make sure you are using the latest version of the CapVPN app from the Play Store or App Store.

VPN Slow Speed

  • Connect to the closest server.
  • Switch to Hysteria2 if your ISP is throttling VPN traffic.
  • Close background apps and downloads.
  • Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi instead of 2.4 GHz if possible.
  • Run a speed test with and without the VPN to compare.

DNS Leak Fix

If your DNS queries are leaking outside the VPN tunnel, enable Shield or set CapVPN as the DNS resolver in the app. On desktop, you can also use Custom DNS to force DNS through the VPN.

You can test for DNS leaks using a trusted online DNS leak test tool while connected to CapVPN.

Change VPN Protocol

Open the CapVPN app, go to Settings, and select Protocol. Choose Hysteria2 for speed and gaming, WireGuard for stable connections, or VLESS Reality if other protocols are blocked.

Windows VPN Setup

  2. Install and open the app.
  3. Sign in with Google / SSO.

macOS VPN Setup

  1. Download the CapVPN macOS app from capvpn.net/download.
  2. Drag the app to Applications and open it.
  3. Sign in with Google / SSO.
  4. Connect to a server.

How do I know if my VPN is working?

What should I do if nothing works?

Contact support through the live chat in your CapVPN dashboard. Share your device, app version, and a screenshot of the error.
